FO GUANG SHAN TEMPLE
RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA

Welcome to Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple, North Carolina
Inspired by the vision and great vow of Venerable Master Hsing Yun—the founding master of Fo Guang Shan—to spread Buddhism across the world for the benefit of all beings, local Buddhists in North Carolina initiated the establishment of this branch temple of Fo Guang Shan (Buddha’s Light Mountain). This temple aspires to be a vibrant, multi-functional center for Buddhist learning and cultural exchange, welcoming both devoted practitioners and the broader public.
The 15,000-square-foot facility houses a Jade Buddha Shrine, dining hall, classrooms, meeting rooms, a library, and ample parking.
Dedicated to the promotion of Humanistic Buddhism, our temple serves both the congregation and the wider community through educational programs, cultural events, charitable outreach, and regular Dharma services. In collaboration with the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) of North Carolina, we also sponsor the Fo Guang Choir, art classes, study groups, chanting sessions, social care initiatives, emergency relief efforts, and provide support for weddings and memorial services.
The construction of the temple has been made possible through the heartfelt generosity of local devotees. According to the sutras, the merits and virtues gained from building temples or stupas bring beauty, prosperity, good fortune, and wisdom.
We sincerely invite all friends and supporters to join us in this noble endeavor and to share in the boundless merits it brings.

Fo Guang Shan (FGS) is a spiritual place for practicing Humanistic Buddhism. It is our commitment and priorities to bring the goodness to society, the monastics, the general public, and the diverse Buddhists. In the Buddhist tradition, the making of an offering allows one to practice giving, to express gratitude and respect, and to reflect upon the life-sustaining law of interdependence.
